Max Mosely and the Green F1 Dream
Even if you aren't into Formula 1 the chances are you have heard of president of the FIA (F1's controlling body) perhaps for all the wrong reasons after details of his whore habit were recently exposed by a tabloid newspaper.
Well having been cleared of having Nazi overtones to his nasty he's started talking about making Formula 1 greener for his remaining term as president. Many might see this as bandwagon jumping but it's important to recognise that when Max puts his mind to something he is able to deliver.
The last comparable crusade was for safety in F1 and by extension we all got safer road cars as a result of the Euro NCap body of which Mosely was chairman from it's inception.
If he can do the same thing for the environment, and making cars greener then surely we can all benefit.

Hello everybody.
I am an F1 and especifically a Honda Racing fan. I would like to say that I fully support all the iniciatives that want to make the sport more useful, but there is something that makes me not trust in the FIA objectives: The new Singapore night race. I have understood that all those lights will suppose more problems to the planet that all the 20 F1 cars in a year. Honda hasn´t done nothing yet to make me put in doubt their commitment, but FOA and FIA of course.
And about myearthdream campaign, they had to stop demanding pledges and accept it as an option, so it didn´t go very well, I imagine...
Of course the Singapore night race is more to do with Bernie's commercial side than the FIA but you're right it does send serious mixed messages.
My biggest issue with the FIA's "make cars greener" push is that they are simultaneously tightening the rules with the engine development freeze and tight aerodynamic restrictions.
If F1 wants to return to it's status as the ultimate development platform for technology that will filter down to road cars and it wants to push an environmental platform then banning refuelling would be the best thing they could do as more economical cars would be lighter at the start and would have a definite advantage.
